Ms. Magyaros stated this work session is to clean up any language that may need it.

The board reviewed the proposals.

The board discussed the lab levels that would be permitted.  Under agents studied, number one states, do not cause disease in humans, number two, cause disease in humans, like Junin virus and Rift Valley fever, number three, cause disease in humans and are spread through the air.  Diseases are serious or lethal like plague, West Nile virus, anthrax, and yellow fever, and number four, same as Biosafety Level 3, but have an unknown cause of transmission.  Diseases are usually life-threatening, like hemorrhagic fever and those caused by Ebola virus.

Ms. Magyaros stated that she is not comfortable with level three and four.

Ms. Conaway stated that she agrees with Ms. Magyaros.  She thinks that there would be an uprising from the neighbors if they allowed anything more than a level one or two.

Ms. Magyaros stated if the board agrees, she would like to only permit a level one and two and incorporate it into section 411.3(A)(10)(e) which would read as follows: Medical and biosafety laboratories engaged in genetic testing, experimentation, demonstration, display, testing, or the study of contagious materials that do not exceed biosafety levels one (1) or two (2) as determined by the National Institute of Health.  Certification of lab level shall be provided to the township prior to its operation.

The board agreed to the language Ms. Magyaros proposed.

Mr. Bauder made a motion that a work session be set with the trustees to review proposed language for the R-T Campus District.

Mr. Bergman seconded the motion.  All was in favor.

Ms. Conaway made a motion to adjourn the meeting.

Mr. Benner seconded the motion.  All was in favor.

Respectfully submitted,

Joni Poindexter
